Examinations

Graded Examinations 1–8 and Vocational Graded Examinations (up to and including Advanced 2) are awarded as qualifications accredited on the frameworks outlined below.

The RAD is recognised to award qualifications on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England and Northern Ireland by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), and the Council for the Curriculm, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), and in Wales by Qualifications Wales.

The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) provides a single, simple system for cataloguing all regulated qualifications.

Examinations are not compulsory, each child will be encouraged to work towards exam standard but have the option to take their exam, or not. If your child is ready and is keen to take their exam we require all exam children to attend 2 lessons a week during the term in which the exam takes place. Extra exam coaching classes are held on Saturdays and are important to help the pupil to gain as much confidence and to be technically secure of their exam work. It is this extra time that allows the teacher to really "polish" the student and get them to look their very best!
